Chelsea are reportedly exploring an ambitious double move for Serie A forwards Dusan Vlahovic and Francesco Pio Esposito as they continue their search for attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season.
According to reports in Italy, relayed by *Calciomercato*, the Blues are keen to add more firepower to their squad and have identified both players as potential targets.
Vlahovic is currently one of the most intriguing names on the market after his Juventus contract expired at the end of June. Despite the club’s attempts to persuade him to remain in Turin, the Serbia international has so far resisted committing his future.
Turkish side Besiktas are understood to have tabled an attractive financial offer in an attempt to secure his signature, putting themselves ahead of several other interested clubs.
However, Vlahovic is believed to be holding out for an opportunity to join one of Europe’s elite clubs. Chelsea are viewed as a possible destination, although Juventus have not completely given up hope of convincing the 26-year-old to stay.
Any agreement with the Italian club would reportedly require Vlahovic to accept a significant reduction in wages, something he is said to be reluctant to do. Chelsea, meanwhile, are thought to be in a stronger position to meet his salary expectations.
Chelsea face tougher challenge over Esposito
While Vlahovic appears to be an attainable target, Chelsea could find it considerably more difficult to prise Francesco Pio Esposito away from Inter Milan.
The highly-rated Italian striker has become a key part of Cristian Chivu’s long-term plans at San Siro, with Inter having little intention of entertaining offers for the 21-year-old.
Esposito is also under contract until 2030, placing Inter in a commanding negotiating position. As a result, Chelsea would likely need to submit an exceptional offer before the Nerazzurri would even consider opening talks.
Alongside Vlahovic and Esposito, Chelsea are also monitoring several other attacking options, with Victor Osimhen, Ollie Watkins and Igor Thiago all believed to be on the club’s shortlist as they continue to assess potential additions before the transfer window closes.
