The RB Leipzig star’s signing is now all but finalised, and Real Madrid are once again turning their attention back to Rodri.
As reported by MARCA, the Spanish giants have already begun the process of signing the midfielder and are expected to present an offer to Manchester City immediately after Diomande’s transfer is completed.
A Non-Negotiable for Mourinho
The Spanish outlet also reports that José Mourinho considers signing a midfielder this summer a non-negotiable priority, with Rodri viewed as the best option available for the position. The club remain optimistic about completing the transfer.
Florentino Pérez was previously said to be a major obstacle to Rodri’s arrival, but the Real Madrid president has now reportedly given the green light for the move. All that remains is for Real Madrid to submit an official offer and complete negotiations with Manchester City.
Rodri is considered an ideal fit for Mourinho’s demands. The Spanish midfielder is a leader, versatile, capable of controlling games from the centre of the pitch, and able to provide a creative outlet for his team.
Manchester City Open to a Transfer
Although it may seem difficult to believe that Manchester City would be willing to sell Rodri shortly after his Golden Ball-winning World Cup campaign, the club reportedly understands that the midfielder is entering the final year of his contract.
As a result, Manchester City are open to a transfer, provided the right fee is offered. At present, the club reportedly value Rodri at between €50 million and €60 million.
