Man Utd Get Green Light To Sign £70m Star, Another Midfielder Agrees Deal

Manchester United are considering whether to make one final midfield addition this summer, but the club are not expected to rush into a deal before the transfer window closes.

The Red Devils have already been active in reshaping their midfield following the departure of veteran midfielder Casemiro.

Andrey Santos has arrived from Chelsea, while Youri Tielemans has also joined from Aston Villa, with United reportedly spending around £100 million on the two players.

However, the club are still believed to be considering another high-profile midfield signing ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleba among the players under consideration.

Baleba remains keen on Manchester United move

Baleba has been linked with United for some time, with the midfielder reportedly coming close to joining the club last summer.

However, United were understood to have been discouraged by Brighton’s £100 million valuation of the 22-year-old.

That valuation has reportedly fallen to around £70 million following an underwhelming campaign for Brighton, potentially making a move more attractive to United.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also provided an update on the situation, claiming Baleba remains keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Baleba is also a player who would be super keen on joining Manchester United. “Already one year ago, Baleba wanted to go to Man Utd, but on this one, it’s on Man Utd to decide if they want to return in talks with Brighton or not. “So, that’s the status around these players. That’s the status around these midfielders.”

United are not expected to rush into a move, despite the belief that Baleba would be open to joining the club.

Manu Kone emerges as alternative option

United are also considering a move for Roma midfielder Manu Kone as they assess their options in midfield.

The France international could reportedly be available for around £50 million, potentially making him a cheaper alternative to Baleba.

Kone is also believed to have reached an agreement in principle over personal terms with United, which could put the Premier League club in a strong position if they decide to pursue a deal.

Roma waiting for United to make move

United’s hesitation is reportedly causing frustration at Roma, with Corriere dello Sport claiming the Italian club are still waiting for an offer from the Premier League side.

Roma are said to be unhappy with the pace of negotiations, although they are not expected to put pressure on United with an ultimatum at this stage.

Romano has described the situation as an “open story”, with United yet to decide whether to make a formal approach

.The Red Devils therefore appear to have a choice to make as they consider their final midfield addition.

Baleba remains a player who is reportedly keen to move to Old Trafford, while Kone could represent a more affordable alternative.

United’s next move will depend on whether they decide to return to negotiations with Brighton or instead pursue a deal for the Roma midfielder before the transfer window closes.
